Christine and Logan were married on a summer’s day at the edge of Never Summer Lake in Grand Lake, Colorado. They rented a gorgeous 66-acre property nestled against Rocky Mountain National Park, called Bar DM Ranch, for their friends and family to both stay and celebrate. The morning of their wedding was rainy and overcast, which was worrisome for their plans of having an outdoor ceremony. But right before their ceremony, the sky opened up, the sun came out, and the water on the lake became glass.
Instead of a first look, they had a ‘first touch’, so that they could hold hands while they read letters from each other. After getting ready in the loft of the cabin, Christine grabbed an umbrella, braved the drizzle outside and made her way to the barn where Logan was waiting for her. They stood with their backs against opposite sides of a barn door and shared a beautiful and emotional moment of quiet before their ceremony.
As the guests arrived and began to seat themselves, a moose strolled right on through the property. It was an absolutely incredible sight to see and had to be a good omen!
Christine and Logan were married under an arch, handmade by their family, made of aspen wood and decorated with flowers. It was a beautiful ceremony with a stunning view. Christine had her former Colorado School of Mines A Capella group sing a selection of love songs. In lieu of bouquets, their wedding carried wooden signs inscribed with their favorite bible verses. They did the Cord of Three Strands ceremony, where they passed around three ropes for all of their guests to pray over, before braiding them together to unite themselves and God into marriage. When they were proclaimed man and wife, they joyfully walked down the aisle, and then signed their marriage license on a split-rail fence.
We took some newlywed portraits by the lake and field near their ceremony site. We didn’t need to stray far for unbelievable mountain views. Logan’s family brought their UTV, so he drove us through the woods to a creek on the property for more photos. We even saw another moose on our way! By the time we got to the creek, it started to rain again, so we took a few more pictures and headed back to the barn to join their guests at the reception.
It was a wonderful, joy-filled day that I was blessed to be able to witness and capture!
