On a beautiful sunny June day, Damon and Laura were married at 9,690’ in Aspen. Both the bride and groom are from Texas and they decided to have a destination wedding in Colorado. They brought along their closest family and friends to celebrate. Initially, they were to be married at the Maroon Bells Amphitheater. Unfortunately, due to an avalanche, they were unable to do so and had to find a new venue. Their new ceremony location ended up being just as stunning- the Cliffhouse on the top of Buttermilk mountain. The chairlift ride up the mountain was beautiful, but it was the view from the top was breathtaking. Can you imagine a better backdrop for saying ‘I do’?!
Once all the guests were seated and Damon was in place, Laura made her entrance walking down the aisle escorted by her mother. Damon was so happy to see her, and he grinned from ear-to-ear as he lifted her veil to reveal Laura’s smiling face looking up at him.
The ceremony was officiated by Laura’s best friend Tanya, and she led a sweet ceremony. Once Damon and Laura were pronounced man and wife, they walked down the aisle hand-in-hand and rang the gong that was fixed near the end of the aisle. Then they cosied up on a lovely chairlift ride down to the base.
While their family and friends enjoyed the views and cocktail hour, Damon and Laura made their way to the iconic Maroon Bells for their newlywed portraits. Although their ceremony plans changed for the avalanche, the road ended up being clear by the time their wedding date rolled around so we were able to still visit! The Maroon Bells are a special place for both Damon and Laura and inspired their Aspen Wedding, so it was important to include them in the photos!
Their reception was held at the Inn at Aspen, at the base of Buttermilk. They enjoyed a delicious dinner and some very sweet toasts given by their loved ones. Afterwards, everyone went outside for the bouquet and garter tosses. Laura threw the bouquet behind her and turned around to see which of her friends caught it. Much to her surprise- her daughter did! She caught it by the flowers, with just one hand like she was wearing an invisible mitt and catching a baseball. Laura was equal parts shocked and horrified to see her daughter was ‘next’! One of the guests caught it on video and showed them both the replay, and their faces were hilarious! It was such a fun moment and a joyous way to end such a beautiful, lovely wedding day.
