Janie + Jacob came all the way from Alabama to elope in Colorado! Their elopement was the first time they had ever been to Colorado, and they made an awesome vacation out of it. They wanted their day to be about just the two of them and the love that they share, so they opted to elope.
When they first reached out to me, they were torn between Estes Park and Pike’s Peak for their ceremony. I filled them in on the details of both, and they ultimately decided to get married along the gorgeous Pike’s Peak Highway in Colorado Springs. I found the perfect spot for their vows that overlooked the Peak as well as Crystal Creek Reservoir.
Jacob and Janie wanted to stay separate prior to the ceremony so that their first look was right before their ceremony. Jacob drove up the mountain with their officiant, Terri, and I drove Janie. Jacob stood in the clearing overlooking Pike's Peak as he waited for his bride to arrive. Janie walked through the woods to approach Jacob, and as she did Jacob was overwhelmed with emotion and cried. It was such a sweet, beautiful moment. They said their vows overlooking the most gorgeous backdrop, and once they were officially married, they held onto each other as they took in the incredible scenery.
When they first arrived in Colorado Springs, they were seriously impressed by Garden of the Gods, so we incorporated the location into their portraits! On our way there, they made a pit stop at Queen Liquor to pick up some champagne to drink in celebration. We even got some some fun photos inside the liquor store! They popped their champagne overlooking Garden of the Gods and Pikes’s Peak, and then we entered the park for some more portraits!
It was such a wonderful, intimate day that I was honored to witness. I had so much fun capturing the love that Janie and Jacob share, and I was so happy they chose me to document their day so that they could share the photos with their friends, family, and their children when they returned home to Alabama.
