It goes without saying that this year was unlike any other. Much to my surprise, this year was the biggest year yet for my business in terms of couples served, miles driven and galleries delivered! While quarantining alone in my apartment and going two months without even touching my camera, I could not imagine ending the year with so many wonderful memories to look back on. After witnessing so many people propose to their person, couples celebrate their engagements, and commit their lives to each other, I realized 2020 showed us what really matters: each other. I am so incredibly grateful to be a witness to the love of so many people during a dark time. So, instead of trying to immediately forget this year, I want to take a few minutes to celebrate some of my favorite moments of love and happiness in 2020.
This year I celebrated 54 couples, delivered 10,277 photos, and hit the shutter about 62,420 times. I drove 12,628 miles across this beautiful state and photographed 4 national parks (Rocky Mountain, Sand Dunes, Black Canyon, and Colorado National Monument). I photographed 26 dogs (!!!), 2 horses, and saw 6 moose! I retrofitted my car for camping and went on a road trip across the state where I photographed some gorgeous places I hadn’t photographed before. I added 2 new cameras and 1 new lens to the family and had 1 lens that had to be repaired due to mysterious circumstances (possibly a ghost?!?! the jury’s still out). I also got to experience some new things: photographing a dogsledding proposal, a snowmobiling proposal (where I went snowmobiling for the very first time and rode it backwards while taking photos!), an engagement session where we hiked to a slot canyon waterfall via (very cold) creek, and took a 4x4 road to Colorado’s tallest free-falling waterfall. Looking back, I’m grateful I was able to experience so much good amongst the bad, and get outside to safely explore.
Now, for the pictures! Here are some of my favorite photos from the year! (Scroll through to also see some behind the scenes photos as well as some Very 2020 Moments)
