Derrick and Kelly got married in Fort Collins, in the backyard of the home Kelly grew up in. It was a beautiful day spent with their closest friends and family!
Kelly and her bridesmaids got ready in her childhood bedroom that she shared with her sister and maid of honor Lisa. Derrick and the guys got ready in the house next door, belonging to Kelly’s grandmother. For their ceremony, they had a wooden mountain arch made by Kelly’s family members, and even incorporated their two dogs at the ring bearer and flower dog!
After the ceremony, we took some bride and groom portraits at an awesome barn on their property, and down their neighborhood’s dirt road with mountain views. Then the wedding party had some fun in the field next to the house before their lunch reception.
At the end of the day, their friends and family tossed birdseed in the air as they left for their Scandinavian honeymoon!
Below you’ll see how they described their wedding in their own words.
Favorite Moment of the Wedding Day
“After the ceremony, while we were taking photos, it was getting chilly and he gave me his suit jacket. I think that moment it really sunk in that we were married, and I felt warm, safe, and happy.”
Favorite Wedding Detail
“I think my jewelry. My grandmother let me borrow her necklace, which was her most precious gift from my grandfather, and my mother let me borrow her earrings to match.”
Married Life
“I was and am looking forward to facing every joy and every struggle, and every morning and every night with the same person.”
Advice to Other Couples Planning Their Wedding
“Things will go wrong, don't worry about preventing or handling every single one of them. Lean of the people you love, and enjoy every moment of the day.”
